Guard Frequency Episode 049 | Episode Title Goes Here

Written by Lennon on . Posted in Podcasts

Greetings Citizens and Civilians, and welcome to episode 49 of Guard Frequency, the universe’s premier Star Citizen podcast recorded on 6th December 2014 and released for streaming and download on Tuesday 9th December 2014 at GuardFrequency.com [Download this episode]

Lennon decided that he should go and investigate what the chances of anything coming from Mars are and so this week joining Tony and Geoff is Jayce from our sister production Priority One (it’s a pretty good show, you should check it out). In this week’s Squawk box: good news from final frontier! In CIG News we bring you up to speed on everything that’s happening around the UEE including our weekly Crowd Funding Update, and about two week’s worth of news to catch up on (featuring Letters from the Chairman, the Anniversary Sale and the CIG HOTAS) — not a good week for the person who writes the news to go on vacation! In Nuggets for Nuggets we tell you how you can go from considering becoming a backer to actually partaking in the Star Citizen universe, and finally we tune into the Feedback Loop and let you join in on the conversation.

Regarding our conversation about the validity of the Aegis Bulldog existence, there was talk about overlapping roles. I argued several points which have been confirmed by Chris, as stated in this show, after the discussion. The Hornet, capable dogfighter, but no bed (save/log out point – confirmed by Chris) and short range (again, confirmed by Chris). They both have their purpose and limitations, validating the existence of both, without overlapping.
Tony, I am keeping an eye out for your very concern, overlapping roles, once that happens, I will make the forums burn. But so far, everything has a specific role (exception of wave 1 ships… those are multipurpose ships).
As for the show, awesome, as always, very entertaining. Welcome Joyce, I hope to hear you again, in some other Guard Frequency episode. I hope to witness the massacre that will take place on your match. Oh! That Clarkson, impersonation is hilarious. Merry Christmas. By the way, my bet, is that v1 will come out before Christmas… but as always, I am ready to swallow my optimism and taste my tears when it comes out, April 2018.

Great show as usual gentlemen and happy anniversary, keep it up.

Catching up on 2 weeks of news is tough, but I can’t think of anything monumentally significant that you omitted.

I was sort of concerned about the attitude displayed toward the HOTAS pricing however. While the $200 – $2,500 ships are being sold out as fast as Comicon tickets, I still think those are a relative minority. With many backers assuming they’re going to need $500 – $1000 to upgrade or replace their systems to run the game on release, I don’t think it’s unreasonable that they won’t want to drop half again as much for the control system that could arguably give them the best experience with the game.

As a mediocre pilot without a lot of extra income or time, it’s already looking like I’m going to be stuck in my starter ships for the first year of the game before I earn enough in-game cash to buy a better ship. I’d rather not be permanently shut out from buying the physical peripherals if I have the option.

You guys always kick out an awesome show! Keep doing what you’re doing. Hope to hear more about a CIG HOTAS. I’d like something more purpose built to fly in this awesome game. See you in the verse!
