This week’s Squawk Box is a change from our normally scheduled shenanigans. Of course we couldn’t go without mentioning the discovery by NASA of the seven new exoplanets in the Trappist-1 system, so we went right to the source. Kinda. So instead of our usual Squawky goodness we’re bringing you a section from our sister production, Priority One, who recently interviewed Dr Robert Hurt of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Labs about the discovery.

After that we hit the Flight Deck and see what news from your favourite space-sims has landed as we cover:

  • A whirlwind of Star Citizen news… Oh, no, wait, I meant the Hurricane!
  • What the good folks at Frontier are doing about the Core Sys Sector XU-P A5-0 system in Elite: Dangerous
  • And we take a proper look at Hellion, the latest space survival sim to hit the market

And finally we tune into the Feedback Loop and let you join in on the conversation.

This Week’s Community Questions

  • What do you think of Spectrum? Do you think the Hurricane can do what CIG claims?
  • Did you visit the Trappist-1 system (or Core Sys Sector XU-P A5-0) in Elite? Anything there worth mentioning?
  • What do you think of Hellion now that it’s out? Do you think the game’s current release state makes sense for early access?

We got patches!

Hello guys this is about the helion game. To put things in perspective I backed Star Citizen when we had a hanger so compared to that helion is a complete game. And with a $25 buy-in I believe that’s a hell of a deal compared to the 500 plus dollars I have in Star Citizen.

Maybe it’s me being a typical brit or fond memories of my grandpa telling me stories of growing up in WW2 (like crawling all the way into a RAF base to get a better look at the planes, only to find out all the planes where wooden cut outs) but the Hurricane name means a lot to me, I was hoping that CIG would pay some homage to the but it seems to be a Hurricane in name only, weapon amount is different, fly characteristics are different, hell the MK2 hurricane could fly with a man sized hole in it but I don’t see this Hurricane taking the same punishment.

I was hoping this would be a competitive against a Mustang (ya know cos of the P-51) but instead it’s another high end ship. When are we going to get something competitive against the Gladius?
      *rant over*

Also the smaller patches won’t be in until spectrum is unified with the launcher, fingers crossed we will see this soon, spectrum is a great improvement to the site but the in game VOIP needs to be added before my org will leave Discord.

I haven’t touched Elite for a while, I got bored after about 20hrs, so I find the trappis update and avator customisation is something that I would of appreciated sooner as they both seem irrelevant to me now.
