Guard Frequency Episode 057 | Metamucil Mayhem

Greetings Citizens and Civilians, you’re tuned to episode 057, of Guard Frequency, the universe’s premier Star Citizen podcast recorded on 31st January 2015 and released for streaming and download on Tuesday 3rd February 2015 at GuardFrequency.com [Download this episode]

Lennon’s back in is joined by Geoff and Tony for your weekly dose of Star Citizen shennanigans, now with more fibre than a Fruity Oaty Bar. In this week’s Squawk Box, we talk about nothing… as far as we can see, anyway. In CIG News we bring you everything that’s happening around the UEE including our weekly Crowd Funding Update, the details of the latest Arena Commander patch to hit the PTU (1.0.2), all the great info posted about mobiGlas and, of course, as much information as we could get from the Star Citizen Town Hall at PAX South. In Nuggets for Nuggets we talk all about Klaus and Werner, and finally we tune into the Feedback Loop and letting you join in on the conversation.

See guys, all the more reason to support Consolidated Outland Mustang Glue… Sad you guys didn’t read that part of my comment a few episodes ago.

Arena Commander credits, Renting. Otherwise people could do nothing but AC.

      Heya,

You mean the one on episode 055? I think it was read on episode 056, although it may have got cut if the hosts butchered it too much. Will double-check!

I like Tony’s prison planet mechanic with the tedious missions/time ban.
However, I think the reason there isn’t a lot of effort being put toward a solid griefing-deterrence mechanic is something Lennon touched upon: most griefers, as soon as they encounter a mechanic in game that legitimately locks them down, will ditch their current character and create another one. There’s no real way I can think of to combat that, so I can’t fault CIG for not devoting a lot of time on anti-griefing measures.

If they’re hoping to make Arena Commander a robust e-sports vehicle, I think they have to make the credits go toward rentals. Otherwise, invariably people will isolate a few “premium” loadouts and everyone will just purchase those. If people are renting instead, there’s a possibility people will have to consider when to purchase certain items for competitions vs for everyday use, and how much they have to pay/play in the meantime.
