Guard Frequency Episode 098 | Standard Scottish Operational Procedure

Written by Lennon on . Posted in Podcasts

Greetings Citizens and Civilians, you’re tuned to episode 098, of Guard Frequency, the universe’s premier Star Citizen podcast recorded on 20th November 2015 and released for streaming and download on Tuesday, November 24th 2015 at GuardFrequency.com [Download this episode]

Geoff, Tony and Lennon are back as we ask “Is it a bird? Is it a plane?” No! It’s a single stage to orbit batmobile. In CIG News we bring you everything that’s happening around the UEE including our weekly Crowd Funding Update, the good stuff coming from the Star Citizen Anniversary Livestream and pretty much nothing else. In Nuggets for Nuggets we go behind the scenes at your favourite search and rescue organisation, and finally we tune into the Feedback Loop and let you join in on the conversation.

Topics Discussed

Hazard Index: Rheumatism

It’s old and stale, and just like arthritis, it’s annoying.  Mr. Smart has a new blog out this week, with just about zero new information. But he has some new accusations.  First, that the 2.0 PTU doesn’t have true 64-bit maps deployed yet – that CIG released a workaround that simulates that.  We’ve had our own techies go crawling around in the files and we can neither confirm nor deny that statement – BUT there are plenty of clues in there to indicate that 64 bit mapping IS baked into many of the systems. Second, more chatter about CIG’s lack of transparency has allegedly led to the departure of one of the original investors.  Again, grains of salt all around, but the more I learn about CIG’s corporate structure the less I like.

    Hello Guys,

Wonderful show, Chaps! On Thursday, for my amazement, I found certain email laying in wait in my inbox. After some scares and some time, I had the PU Alpha 2.0.0 downloaded.

So my first experience went like this: Login, run client, “Login error”, close. Login, run client, load up, sound fails in the hangar. Walk to elevator, punch code to Port Olisar. Connection Error, back to hangar, crash to desktop. Rinse and repeat. Then, I heard it, the sweeping score, waking up in the bed, summoning a Connie, fly it around. Then disconnection error, back to hangar, crash to desktop.

As I was “imbued with a sense of purpose” I kept trying, while opening tickets and replicating errors as I should, I found it! That golden moment, when you have 15 minutes of gameplay without anything going wrong. Tony, Lennon and Geof, it’s worth it! It’s fun, engaging, combat is interesting IFCS 2.0 is a blast to use, I saw the game for what it is… And it’s beautiful, guys.

Every ship feels different, the Hornet feels heavy and armored, the Connie feels big and surprisingly agile… THAT engine rumble though, wow! I know that it’s not perfect, but rest assured all backers are doing what we can to help CIG with this release. Tony, mini jump points…. are not in the game. See you all in the ‘verse!

Late comment I know, but awesome show as always guys. I agree with Lennon, its good to see the PTU getting unpolished patches. That’s what it’s for after all.
