   About the Elite “event”. I think it was handled horribly. I’ve lost respect for Mr. Wagar and won’t be purchasing this book or any other book he writes from here on out. If he wanted to kill off his main character and thereby kill the story, since without her there’s no reason for a third book, he should’ve done it himself in words. Not by friending everyone and their brother in game and letting them track her through the systems and influencing the instancing to mine salt. This should’ve been a CG not a free for all.

   Probably a bit late but I’ve been ill so have been catching up on GF recently, so I wanna talk about a few things.

   Tony, you always talk about concept sales that CIG do as own goals, this time it was about the Defender and how the vision is obstructed, firstly I remember the devs saying that the Banu are taller so I don’t know if this will fix the problem, secondly being in the car industry I’ve seen cars come out with big flaws with visibility so for me this is “normal” and I’ve always thought ships with actual design flaws are more exciting than ones without, plus this then comes with the added bonus of seeing downwards, something you don’t get in a Hornet and I don’t see it actually causing an issue for a ship that’s more of a archer than a swordsman. I think its great that CIG mock these up at concept and throw them at the community even if the post 90 threads about the visibility on reddit, certainly not an own goal, I have a lot of respect for CIG showing their flaws and them addressing problems that arrive, admittedly they are a little bit slow at it but the cutlass is a good example of them fixing problems.

   The referral program was a flawed design however, they should have design it as a Organisation or entire community idea, so rather than getting a star kitty dragonfly for each individual backer, why not a mass target of 10,000,000 total referrals and when completed hand it to all participants, also why a dragonfly and not a paint job? Why Star Kitty and not actual in game lore like Big Bennys? Hello Kitty is a thing because of the JDM car scene, where is the lore to reflect that? I wouldn’t say this is an own goal but more they completely missed an open goal and insulted the referee’s wife while they are at it.

   I just want to add to my Elite strike comment that if I was Frontier I would go all Richard the 2nd and promise the 3 party devs to help work on the API, meanwhile getting someone internally programming this much needed functionality into the game, only to slaughter the 3 party peasants when the timing is right and release it all in a future patch, players shouldn’t need to rely on websites that are going to throw temper tantrums every time something breaks and the fact that they had Frontier “by the throat” would concern me if I was invested in them.

   Also the lore that came out that a large alien army is coming to kill us, challenge accepted, this has been the thing that for me Elite has been missing, a definitive enemy and fingers crossed a “capture the system” style gameplay. I’ve got my fingers crossed.
