Guard Frequency Episode 093 | Comet Fragments

Greetings Citizens and Civilians, you’re tuned to episode 093, of Guard Frequency, the universe’s premier Star Citizen podcast recorded on 16th October 2015 and released for streaming and download on Tuesday, October 20th 2015 at GuardFrequency.com [Download this episode]

Geoff and Tony are joined by the newest member of the Guard Frequency production team, our Staff Writer and now guest-host Jeff (better known to the Star Citizen community as Ostron) as yes, folks, you guessed it, our Resident Brit (can we still call him that? I mean he’s absent at least once a month), anyway he’s discovered there is a limit to how much Mac & Cheese one man can consume in an evening. So Brit’s with dodgy stomachs aside, in this week’s Squawk Box, we finally call shenanigans on that old wives’ tale about why stars twinkle. In CIG News we bring you everything that’s happening around the UEE including our weekly Crowd Funding Update, the latest patch notes from the PTU for Star Citizen Alpha 1.3, 10 For The Designers episode 6 and our thoughts on CitizenCon. In Nuggets for Nuggets we show you the happier side of pirating, and finally we tune into the Feedback Loop and let you join in on the conversation.

Wonderful show everyone, make sure those kids from the classroom get plenty of fruity oaty bars.

Question: does anyone know if the science modules/variants will be of varying types? The reason i ask is that an astrometrics lab will be very different from a bio/chemistry lab.

Take my powerful words, TAKE THEM!

    Great show.

The speed of light weapons, also known as hit scan, were some of the largest issues that MWO had and still might, haven’t played it in months. MWO is also a cryengine game, so there’s where the technical difficulties talk comes from with that.

As to the CitizenCon presentation. I love the scale they are going for, but I’m also a patient person, which most people are not. That’s what the 2.0 Alpha is for, starting to build out the verse. I think they are much farther along with a lot of the assets than we thing, remember the leak with all those capital ships (both UEE and Vanduul). I think it’ll grow faster than expected. Granted I won’t be disappointed to wait longer, what they’ve shown is, to me, worth the wait.

To the comments of “scope creep”, think about how CR is and honestly ask yourself if we wouldn’t be in this same spot without stretch goals and the same level of funding. CIG could have take the same approach as Elite did, give us a shell of a game then slowly fill in the hollow bits, but that’s not how CR rolls. I can respect that opinion, but I also respectfully disagree that seeing a better game than expects is disappointing in anything other than the impatience of wanting it now.

As far as the referral system, I’m not a fan of these in general, but I’m not terribly offended by it being there either. Seems like something that should have been in much earlier. The short answer is, I’m not really concerned about it at all.

OUTSTANDING show guys! Seriously! ROOSOFLMAO (Rolling Out Of Seat Onto Floor Laughing My Arse Off) No Kidding. I was very happy I wasnt driving. Ep93 is my new favorite.

    Ill refer back to a previous general feedback post; I have listened to all guard shows having caught up to the present. Here is what I have learned;

*The show is SO much funnier when Tony is wrong.
*Only real men know how to best wake themselves up in the morning; Upgrade that cup of jo with de-scaler.
*Geoff’s hot tub is still on back order.
*Wild horses cant keep Lennon away.
*Moisture sensing klaxon’s are for infectious laughter bladder management.
*Something something something, mini jump point’s, blah blah blah.
*Lennon is really a Texan in British disguise.
*Space Pirate CPA’s are truly scary.
    *Wnga manga has firm peaches
*Tony most likely sleeps on a bed of heated vibrating trackballs.
*’THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!’… way to pronounce all names; Geoff’s way.
*Tony plays with prarry chickens. Lennon is the clock Nazi, and Goeff is immortal.
    *Here’s the thing…
    *Ep 93 is HILARIOUS!
*We all love the game we r making.

About the referral program; Whoever thought of this is 3 years too late! I really hope CIG and more importantly Mr Roberts, takes a moment and really reflects back on what founding backers have ENABLED him to do. His life long dream to make exactly the game he has seen in his mind is possible. Among other valid points, I truely hope he considers how recent CIG decisions are a smack to all founding backers faces. This needs to be abolished or award founding backers with better recognition.

Keep up the great work guys. Might have to consider adding a “dont operate equipment” warning if u guys keep getting funnier.

I agree with Tytis on all counts and bullet points. Great show and GREAT JOB OSTERON! The nuggets are at a whole new level since the ‘staff writer’ came aboard. Too funny. Kudos to the audio engineer on the bloopers and kudos to you guys for hitting the $100 per episode mark! More goodness for everyone.

I don’t care for the referral system. It should not be a spammable thing. People interested should give their emails to a backer of choice, that backer then sends a unique referral link to the interested person and the referee clicks on that link to become a recruit/prospect. Having codes all over the ether is internet trolling really.

And Citcon was just what I expected. Not a shred of disappointment.

Credit where it’s due – this week’s nuggets script was mostly Chiv’s brainchild, with some editing by Tony. But I appreciate the feedback.
