Guard Frequency Episode 095 | Uncontained Thrust

Greetings Citizens and Civilians, you’re tuned to episode 095, of Guard Frequency, the universe’s premier Star Citizen podcast recorded on 30th October 2015 and released for streaming and download on Tuesday, November 3rd 2015 at GuardFrequency.com [Download this episode]

Geoff, Lennon and Tony are back to show you why you need to stay in school, kids. To start out, in this week’s Squawk Box we take a look at how NASA is overly complicating a basic fetch quest. In CIG News we bring you everything that’s happening around the UEE including our weekly Crowd Funding Update, the updates to the Flight Control Model coming with Star Citizen Alpha 2.0, and the latest news regarding its release. In Nuggets for Nuggets we help keep you culturally sensitive in these stressful times, and finally we tune into the Feedback Loop and let you join in on the conversation.

Topics Discussed

Hazard Index: Rhesus Monkey

According to comments on DS’s blog, he’s waiting for CIG to blow the November 2015 deadline to either release SQ42 or off no questions asked refunds for original KS backers.  As this is one of the core claims of evil that he’s making against the game, it makes sense that he wants there to be no question that evil occurred.  Again, to short circuit him and to go on the frickin’ offensive for once, CIG should probably announce that any KS backer that wants their money back can have it. It would not only knock over one of central pillars of DS’s strategy, it would be a PR move of epic proportions.  The community has shown time and again that WE believe in the project… Now CIG needs to turn around and show that they believe in the Community.  Maybe by the time this show is released, that announcement will be made.  Maybe.

    Hello Gentlemen,

Awesome show as always. As for the damage and pipes, having extensively explored the available 3D models and there is definitely space between the outer hull and the interiors to put them [pipes]. Also the Thrust Pipes [giggity], are not the only pipes that were supposed to go in the models, we also have according CIG previous documents, there were supposed Power, Heat and Data pipes already in schedule to be added to the models. Adding the Thrust to the already numerous pipes in the ships shouldn’t be a problem. Also, this change has been coming for a while, I’ve been aware of Flight model changes [based more on the main engine] for at least half a year. This will be awesome, as now every ship will handle completely different with varying flight characteristics [think P-51 vs P-47 vs P-38].

As for the new format of the show; have at it! Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, No Man’s Sky and many other space games are interesting and should be covered. Just cover Star Citizen the same way you have been doing it.

Great show guys! I look forward to listening to your episodes each week and I’m excited to hear about other space genre games coming out and on the horizon.

In my opinion Star Citizens will be a lot happier with other stuff to play while they wait because I feel like we’re in for a long wait still regardless of what CIG says.

I recently picked up Angel’s Fall First and Rogue System and am Planning on trying those soon. Currently playing Divinity Original Sin EE and loving it. Next on my list is Wasteland 2 DC and then hopefully I can give those new space games a try around the time Elite Dangerous Horizons arrives.

Star Citizen has done an amazing job at bringing space games as a genre back and I think there is a lot out there to be looking at right now.

Even Battlefront is relevant since Star Citizen is supposed to have FPS mechanics.

I’m also very excited to hear about flight model changes to the game because we desperately need them. The current flight model is not something I’d ever consider to be the best space sim ever and that is the core of what we’re trying to do hear so a lot of other stuff can be unfinished, rough around the edges and even incomplete but if our flight model doesn’t feel like we’re flying massive ships around space then this whole project is doomed. They should spend a lot more time on the flight model in my opinion. I look forward to seeing how the new system feels.

    Great show guys…

May want to tell Shiv that the sharp curvy end of the ulu does the cutting. Seems he may have hurt his hand using the handle to edit last weeks feedback.

Im happy that you wont change how you cover SC, But in order to ADD more games has a secret mission been planned to steal the Clock Nazi’s watch?

As always; Keep up the good work, and get Shiv some bandages.
