Loved the show, great job everyone. Large scale pvp should only be a simulator/holodeck thing in this universe, or for “sporting events”. All Hail the Beam!

This universe will have enough war coming from aliens, there is no reason add player wars.

War can definitely have a place in online gaming. It’s all about consent and shared expectations though. In a game like Decent Underground, combat is the thing and blowing each other up is what you’re supposed to do. No problem there.

Wargaming can be lots of fun. Strategy, tactics, the ability to fight and prevail.. all very cool stuff that folks can enjoy.

The thing is.. many of these games are trying to be a lot of different things to different people. If I’m playing football in the park, I expect to be tackled and shoved onto the ground. If I’m walking through the park on a date, I don’t expect those things (unless the date goes REALLY well).

Some jerk running up and shoving me onto the ground for laughs is, quite simply.. a jerk. If he THOUGHT I was playing football, that’s another issue.

Developers of these games that look to provide lots of different experiences for different people should take a care to provide effective safeguards that allow people to elect what style of play is acceptable to them, and give them a reasonable assurance that they can experience it.

    Cheers,

Great show everyone, however I’m going to have to disagree that everyone who wants to PvP is ering mother who should shove a right in their .

I personally love a good PvP battle, even when I’m not expecting it. The threat of being attacked and killed for me is what gives me satisfaction when accomplishing non combatic tasks. Many people would have no issues being attacked by an NPC while they were doing these things, how come it is different just because there’s a person on the other end of the experience?

Griefing, sniping charity streams (or any streams really), and killing new players over and over is a whole different story. However, those people are going to grief even if PvP wasn’t in the game. At least PvP being in the game gives us some recourse and lets us blow their asses up.

As for major wars, I think it’s the best form of PvP. These people have all agreed to be a part of the war. Everyone should know the risks when they join up for the war and it gives a good outlet for people who want to PvP. I’m personally looking forward to some massive organization battles once the game goes live.

Love the show every week guys, keep up the good work.
