Elite: Dangerous

Elite Dangerous announced Updates 16 and 17 this week during their monthly Frameshift Live stream, with Update 16 scheduled for August. And they showed off another new and mysterious Thargoid vessel. It was collecting canned humans from sizzling debris fields of wrecked human ships. There’s no cause for panic, but I think they might be deciding whether or not we are delicious. Finally, Frontier released their Fiscal Year 2022 results and of course everything is terrible, the company is going bankrupt, Elite is going into maintenance mode, and everyone should panic about that rather than about being eaten by murder flowers.

Star Citizen

Star Citizen released Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 3.19.1 to the Live server and it does everything they said it would. They only said QUOTE “Fixed multiple causes of 19003 and account Unstowed issues.” END QUOTE They never said they were going to fix ALL the unstowed player issues. So, that’s still a thing. Also, the long term persistence solution, announced so that players could hold on ships that they earned in game, turned out to be neither long-term, nor persistent. Don’t worry, though, top men are working on tracking those missing ships down. TOP. MEN. And the Roadmap Roundup very nearly needed a Roadmap to the Roadmap Roundup, but luckily, they got it working again. Only to tell us that a ship they already released was going to be finished soon. And we’re not going to talk about Alien Week. We should all just agree not to discuss it. Ever. BREAKING NEWS: the servers fell over 4 hours before showtime. EVEN BREAKING-ER NEWS: they’re back up again.

The Rest

And our “other games” segment is going to be jam-packed this week, with STAR EVERYTHING slated to come out over the next few months. We got Treks, we got Wars, and we got a Field, all full of STARS. Where do we even STAR-t?

Community Questions

  • Was there anything missing from the Starfield announcement that you were hoping to see? Did Bethesda leave anything out that they should have put in?
  • Do MMOs and single player games compete directly with each other? Or do they both compete generally for game dollars, but provide fundamentally different experiences?

Have any of you guys/gals been considering Falling Frontier, or is it just me? Not that it is a sim, but space.

Why not talk to the brokers on vidcom?
