Elite: Dangerous

Elite Dangerous is a veritable fountain of news and updates this week, announcing a new ship, a new feature, new game improvements, and a new controversial business decision! The Caspian Explorer – an HOMAGE to the USS Defiant from Deep Space Nine and/or the Norway-class from Star Trek First Contact – is a Large-sized explorer with a fancy new Frame Shift Drive, available for Arx in early access in December. The new “Operations” feature will release in early 2026 and feature mission chains that include combat inside megaships. And to support that new feature, quality of life improvements to the BGS, Powerplay and on-foot NPC AI will be coming soon. And that just leaves the controversy! That’s right, Frontier announced that the new Dodec spaceport could be built with no grinding, had unique access to a tech broker, and gave unique advantages for colony gameplay, and it would ONLY be available for Arx. Finally! An unequivocal pay to win scheme that we could rant about! Except, it’s no longer controversial because FDev already changed their minds. I guess that they remembered that the early access model was going really well and decided that nothing succeeds like success.

Star Citizen

Star Citizen released Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 4.4 PTU 10633661 to the PTU server. After only a week-and-a-half delay getting 4.4 to the Evocati, and another week with the Evocati, the Nyx system is getting its debut. Only a few ships are exploding and not every NPC is falling through the floor, but SOME of them are. We’ll wait until next week to see how much the database is messed up with this patch. And in theorycrafting news, CIG devs are on the forums telling backers how land claims and basebuilding are planned to work as of this moment. All we know is: that what they plan and what actually happens ain’t exactly similar. And finally, get out your wallets, all 6 million of you registered accounts, because the annual IAE ship sale is about to commence!

No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky is beginning its Expeditions Redux event, where now through the end of the year, you can play through the game’s limited-time missions and earn the limited-time rewards. Up first is the N7 expedition where the reward is an in-game Normandy SR-1 from Mass Effect.

Dune Awakening

Dune Awakening updated players on the next piece of its roadmap, including a backup tool for your desert lair, an expanded skill tree, and character transfers.

The Outer Worlds 2

And Tony finished The Outer Worlds 2 and has a few final spoiler-free thoughts about the game.
