Elite: Dangerous
Elite Dangerous teased their new ship and we will dissect it on air, on a radio show. And there’s a mysterious mystery about the latest Community Goal that took Tony about 90 seconds on Inara.cz to solve.
Star Citizen
Star Citizen released Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 4.10.1 12650677 to the LIVE server. But that’s not the real news. The real news is that the brain trust at CIG has decided that now is a great time for a balance pass for space combat in Star Citizen. That’s right, and they’re specifically looking for a one-third/two-thirds balance for hull to shield destruction. And they have to do it without being able to change the hit points of critical systems because they “lack tools”. However, they can easily change shield and “amor health”. We here at the podcast can also easily change amor health through the application of flowers and chocolates. Also, the latest ship released by CIG has the wrong name. Instead of the Sabre Raven EX, it should have been called the “Buffalo Bill.” We’ll explain why later.
Dune: Awakening
Dune: Awakening released a huge 1.5 update, which now includes a single player option. Visual upgrades, combat balancing, endgame gear changes, a conclusion to the first story arc, and the retirement of the Funcom launcher window. Also, they’re releasing on console next week, with early access starting yesterday. And look for them on XBox Gamepass on the 22nd. There’s been the usual hiccups, but we’re sure that Funcom would really really like to see some of those old PC launch numbers come back.
Community Questions
- Does the secret sauce of game longevity start with a base of masochistic PC players and then get seasoned with console players joining a polished experience?
- Is now a good time for a balance pass? Should there be a Time-to-Kill target before they figure out the flight model and weapon crafting systems?
