Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous waited almost a full day to respond to our VERY brief segment last week. Arf posted that the team was, indeed, plotting its course for the year and would have news, new streams, new community goals, labrador puppies, and gluten free vegan cupcakes for everyone! Soon (™). But they are super serious about new narrative content of this sort, because they are hiring someone new to run it. We know some people who would be great at that job. But in more somber news, Sally Morgan-Moore, razor-wit-warrior-goddess of the forums, is taking a medical leave of absence from Frontier. The patch notes won’t be the same, and we wish her a speedy recovery, and a quick return.

Star Citizen

Star Citizen kicked over an anthill last week, and this week started selling a hoverbike. You remember, the jpeg they gave everyone for christmas? The one some backers thought they were getting for free for christmas? Yeah, the funding tracker says they sold about a million dollars worth of them in two days. Research badgers speculate that they’re being purchased for their sweet, juicy, meltable LTI tokens. But clearly, the reported sales mean that the fans are happy and everything is going well. Which is why the latest 3.16 Postmortem is sweetness and light, and the latest Squadron 42 update doesn’t sound like The Agent from Something Awful was right.

No Man’s Sky

Descent Underground has counted off three weeks since the new settlement agreement, and there is

No Man’s Sky once again exceeds expectations – and maybe common sense – by announcing that they’re porting the game to the Nintendo Switch. At this rate, we expect Hello Games will actually have constructed … and entirely moved into … its own Metaverse by sometime in the early 2030’s. It will probably be distributed as a free update to No Man’s Sky … on your android smartwatch.
