Elite: Dangerous

Elite Dangerous had their monthly Frameshift Live show this week, and according to research badgers, it’s a good thing they went to a monthly format. Because once again, the big news is no news. Update 16 is due out the first week of August and there was not a peep, nor a preview, nor a tease about what was to come.

Star Citizen

Star Citizen may begin testing Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 3.20 with Wave 1 backers soon, according to some guy on the internet. And while we were on vacation, CIG made another bad choice about its microtransaction store and we haven’t had a chance to excoriate them about it yet. And finally, this is a summer of farewells to old favorites. First, Ortwin resigned from some of his jobs at CIG, but maybe not all of them. And now we learn that Turbulent is no more. They have been purchased by CIG. Of course, we’re only hearing about this three months after the fact and they didn’t disclose terms. But rest assured that all of the backers’ pledge money is going straight to game development – and not to compensate Canadian business owners for the sale of their company.
