Elite: Dangerous
Elite Dangerous Update 17 did, in fact, release on October 16, and it seems to have gone pretty smoothly. And while Tony was indeed disappointed by the complete lack of anything happening in the Sol system, he didn’t have time to cry about it because he had to travel for work this week. And it turns out that you can bomb the new thargoid revenant vehicles from the air, so it’s not so bad. Finally, we’re tired of being right, but it looks like the massive wave of layoffs that Frontier will finalize in early 2024 doesn’t bode well for any sort of investment in Elite anytime soon.
Star Citizen
Star Citizen released Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 3.21 to the Live Server, which was not something we had on our bingo card. It will probably be perfectly stable for whatever demo CIG has planned for Citizen Con this weekend. Speaking of Citizen Con, research badgers uncovered an analysis of previous Citizen Con announcements on the Star Citizen subreddit. It turns out that when Chris Roberts announces a feature or timeline, it comes true only 17% of the time. That’s roughly 1 out of 6, and I think we can do better. So, we’re going to predict six CIG announcements for this year’s Con, and we’ll see if we can do better than Chris.
Star Trek Infinite
Freelance modders for the X4 game announced an updated version of their Star Wars Total conversion mod, and it looks seriously impressive. Also, because we’ve been talking so much about Star Trek Infinite, we’d thought we’d let you know that Stellaris is launching yet another DLC, coming Soon (™). It will come alongside their free 3.10 update and will be a trans dimensional thrill ride of intergalactic shenanigans or something.
