Elite: Dangerous

Elite Dangerous made a bit of a social media kerfuffle last week by announcing a “deep dive” into Powerplay 2.0 during their monthly Frontier Unlocked livestream. As it turns out, the presentation was neither “deep” nor a “dive.” It wasn’t deep for two reasons. First, the dev who was supposed to be interviewed by Arthur was sick, and the replacement dev didn’t directly work on the content presented. Second, the content presented consisted largely of visual changes to the environment and galaxy map. It wasn’t a dive, because a dive is usually something “immersive.” This was a very high-level review of changes. Naturally, the debate has become whether the failed “deep dive” broke down because of poor communication, or because Powerplay 2.0 is really just a shallow makeover. Discussion will follow.

Star Citizen

Star Citizen released Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 3.23.0 EPTU.9128215-9129117 to the Evocati server this week. If everything goes well, there will be a long list of new things added to the game when 3.23 goes live. And because Kinshadow isn’t here to reign Tony in, I’ll be reading a list of expected features for the sole purpose of keeping his mouth shut for just a few seconds.

After that, Tony will open his face-hole again and talk about some special content next week and how and why he loves Star Citizen so very much.

The Rest of the Lot

Helldivers 2 released two new support weapons to help pour the water of Liberty over the ferns of Freedom. Both the Heavy Machine Gun and the Quasar Laser Cannon have won over the hearts and trigger fingers of players everywhere. But Arrowhead Games faces new trouble, namely, are the players TOO good at spreading Managed Democracy?

No Man’s Sky has yet another free update called 4.6 Orbitals. This patch includes updates to stations, customizable spacecraft construction – kinda like Starfield – as well as guilds, and distress calls from your fleet.

And Fernando checks in with some video of the new capital ship flight model in Hunternet Starfighter. As soon as the torpedoes are installed, he’ll open up carrier to carrier battles for players.

    Awesome show everyone.

RP advice, a baseball bat increases the range of grenades, but a Jai Alai wicker is better, less chance of the grenades blowing up near you, just saying.
