Links & The Like

Elite: Dangerous

Elite Dangerous had a busy segment in this month’s Frontier Unlocked. They took a genuine Deep Dive into the new Powerplay 2.0, teased the next ship variant – spoiler alert, it’s a Lakon Type 8 – and overturned a decade of monetization policy. That’s right everyone, Elite Dangerous is now a cash-grabbing, microtransactional, slap-in-the-face hellscape of Web3 dystopian nightmares. OK, that last part is a bit of an exaggeration, but it deserves some discussion.

Star Citizen

Star Citizen released Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 3.23.0-EPTU.9156902 to Wave 3 PTU testers. The Epic Month of May is upon us. And CIG will likely continue the time-honored tradition of dropping the new update to the Live server no matter how unstable the build is. Also, now that the Overdrive mission chain has been underway for a few weeks, CIG announces that they’re going to start looking into actually letting players track their progress through the mission chain. Oh, and also ensuring that they can actually progress through the chain.

Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2 is taking another page from the old Elite Community goals. This time, they are asking the players to choose between unlocking anti-tank mines or air burst missiles.

Community Questions

  • Tell us about FDev’s plan to sell pre-built ships. Is it a short-sighted abandonment of their core principles or is it a necessary and overdue adaptation to the market?
  • What else should FDev shill to bring in the guineaquids? Reputation packs? Engineering materials? Pin up posters of Aisling Duval?

    Wonderful show everyone, thanks

Just today while listening, I hear that Shattered Space for Starfield is coming in the fall, maybe by that time the new fallout upgrade will be fixed.

    Shogun is great.
