Elite: Dangerous

Elite Dangerous announced a bunch of announcements in last week’s Frontier Unlocked stream. First, it announced the modules and hardpoints for the Lakon Type 8 – surprise! It’s a freighter. But it’s a fast one. Next, it will be available in August for early access purchase – just about the time the Python Mark 2 will be available for purchase in-game. Nice timing. Finally, Arthur announced that Powerplay 2.0 will be released in September, which is still technically the summer! In other news, Titan Indra is going to explode next week. If you haven’t watched one blow up, you only have four more chances!

Star Citizen

Star Citizen released Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 3.24.0 PTU.9239996 to the Evocati Server. It’s been a bit of a journey getting this one released, with build candidates almost making it, and then being pulled at the last minute. Speaking of getting pulled, Ortwin Freyermuth, CIG Co-founder and legal genius that brought us the Crytek lawsuit, has turned in his last director’s badge. He still owns a bunch of unsellable stock, though. Maybe we’ll see more of him in future British business paperwork someday. In Star Citizen TV news, CIG released THEIR version of how the introduction to server meshing went. It seems to be BASED on a true story. But they got one thing very wrong, and boy is Tony excited to tell you about that. Finally, it seems that there may be some Shenzhen shenanigans going on with a Bar Citizen event in China.

Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2 is more or less taking July off for summer vacation, but they left us with a parting gift of new ship upgrades and a quality-of-life patch that fixed a long-standing issue with a prior ship upgrade. Speaking of managing democracy…

Every time that i hear about clones, i think of Paranoia tm.

Wonderful show everyone, thank you all.

Creation Club content/paid content in general exposition: For clarity my beliefs stem from the games Star Trek Online, World of Warships, beta of the 40k 1st person shooter game that they had, 2, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and now Starfield.
Bottom line of this conversation, all of these devs are on drugs as far as price points are concerned in my worthless opinion. I think that STO could really get way more money out of people if they had more, lower price points on lower tier ships, and also had upgrade tokens for older lower tier ships. I lost interest in the 40k game when i found out that they were going to want $5 for a weapon paint job, I know that the number sounds low, but when you consider that I am an altaholic, and also want all of my alts in any games to be unique ( I am a special snowflake), that kind of stuff can add up quick. As for the fallout stuff, i never bought anything full price, my interest in specific items determined just how much discount i required before purchasing (30% minimum) . In 76 I actually never bought any stuff, just accepted free items, until i stopped playing and now no longer even have on my system.
Now on to Starfield. When i heard about the trackers alliance item, $7 did not sound so bad, still over priced, but not too bad. Until Todd got interviewed and gave away that the plan was to keep churning out new content at the $7 price regularly, each one bounty. That is just cray cray, those guys are smoking aurora. I have spent some credits on some items, but once this current set of credits i have run out, i will be far more picky. There is just way too much good free stuff available between nexus and bethesda. The free stuff on nexus is typically something that i would be more likely to spend money on.
All that being said, I cant be more angry at bgs, considering the price points that SC considers fair.
