Links & The Like

Elite: Dangerous

Elite Dangerous is committing to their whole “one-week delay” thing and has doubled down on their October 29th release date for the Ascendancy update. Research badgers in the private beta tell us that they’ve seen some improvements to the game already, but hopefully Frontier takes the time they need to prevent another Odyssey-level meltdown. Remember, just like CIG committed to hold back patches that are “3.18 broken,” you should commit to avoiding “Odyssey broken.” Finally, next week’s show is probably going to be mostly Elite news, because in addition to the new patch, Frontier’s Unlocked livestream should be dropping news about the much-anticipated new feature. The smart money says “Base Building.”

Star Citizen

Star Citizen released Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 3.24.3 PTU.9390680 to the PTU Server. And in true CIG fashion, they’ve fixed a technical complaint in this patch by simply changing the definition of a word to a special “Star Citizen Only” meaning. And in other miserable communication news, CIG has once again nerfed a concept ship to make room for a new concept ship, only to un-nerf the old concept ship, EVENTUALLY. And in still OTHER miserable communication news, I only took home one of the four possible awards from the Citizen Con 2024 costume competition. And if we have any time left over, Tony might let us talk about the rest of the convention. MAYBE.

Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2 teased the arrival of the new “Truth Enforcers” warbond, releasing October 31st. It’s chock full of democratic and patriotic goodness like a plasma pistol, anti-stagger armor, stamina drugs, and a new cape! As if that wasn’t enough, for Liberty Day, on October 26th, all helldivers will receive a shiny set of armor and a likely useless, but also shiny, new rifle. In other news, No Man’s Sky has released another free, but limited time, Expedition. “The Cursed” is a spooky halloween romp into an alternate universe filled with Cthulu monsters and other creepy things. But, at the end of it all, you get a spaceship that is clearly an “homage” to the ship in Knights of the Old Republic.

“I don’t mind riding whale tail” Well alrighty then.

cq1) I would rather watch paint dry, than listen to the slowest devs on the planet.
cq2) Still trying to have a stable unbroken Starfield save, and yes I use mods, I am on PC.
