Elite: Dangerous

Elite Dangerous backed off their double down on the October 29th release date for the Ascendancy patch, instead releasing October 31st. This didn’t leave a whole lot of time for Tony to find out everything wrong with it, but don’t worry, he has some preliminary notes. The real problem is that he was too busy kitting out his new favorite ship, the Mandalay. Also, the smart money was on “base building” to be the next big feature – but the smart money wasn’t thinking big enough. Oh, you’ll be building bases, all right. After you colonize a whole star system! The bubble will be expanding, and players will be in charge of how that goes. Well, within reason. Anyway, because we love the game we’re building, it’s time for us to offer our suggestions for how this whole thing should work. Y’know, before they mess it up like Powerplay 2.0.

Star Citizen

Star Citizen released Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 3.24.3 PTU.9410828 to the PTU Server. Speaking of not getting to 4.0, it’s finally my turn to say that I was right! Take that TONY! CIG’s Roadmap Roundup last week moved almost everything that is not “server meshing” and “jump points” off of the 4.0 Alpha release. There are still a few things left in the cards, but not much in terms of gameplay. That includes things that were shown during the Squadron 42 demo, like fire hazards, fire extinguishers and life support. And also, VERY MYSTERIOUSLY, the announcement of the “December’s 4.0 Alpha” has been changed to just “Alpha 4.0”. What could this possibly mean?

Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2 “Truth Enforcers” warbond is out, and it’s got some good things and bad things. But the most important thing is that I’m still mooching off of their free premium currency giveaways.

Hunternet Starfighter

HunterNet Starfighter has released an update on their Indiegogo page, and the carriers are done for the moment, and Fernando has moved on to mining!

No Man’s Sky

And finally, No Man’s Sky has rereleased an updated version of its very popular expansion that rewards the Normandy from Mass Effect. Talk about an homage!

Community Questions

  • Is there any reason to release the entire content of a new game feature right away? Or does a drip feed only prolong the wait unnecessarily? Binge watch or weekly episodes?
  • What are you hoping to see from the new System Colonization feature in Elite Dangerous?

I do have more mods than I need, but more than one is needed, just having just one is just silly, it just is, I’m just saying.

    excellent show everyone.
