Elite: Dangerous
Elite Dangerous is saying goodbye to one of the all-time greats as Arthur Tolmie is departing FDev in July. So we should have him for one or two more Frontier Unlocked episodes where he will hopefully tease additional details on the new game feature scheduled for this summer. Fair winds and following seas, Arf.
Star Citizen
Star Citizen released Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 4.1.1 LIVE 9764168 to the live server. The Epic Month of May is in full swing. Invictus Launch week is off to a rocking start, featuring no UEE naval displays. No, if you want to get a look at a navy ship, you’re going to have to buy one, because the Idris-P is now in the game! That’s right, the O.G. $1000 ship is finally in the hands of the backers who pledged for them over a decade ago. And that’s not all, you can buy $300 or $400 weapons to add on to your $1000 ship. But that’s not all CIG is selling this May. The long awaited ship upgrades known as “blades” are now for sale in the pledge store. In addition to allowing a pilot to boost speed or maneuverability, it also sets forum posts, reddit threads, and game journalism comment sections EN FUEGO. That’s a lot of functionality for only $10 to $40. But don’t worry, CIG has taken the feedback constructively and has promised to NEVER EVER do this exact thing ever again. Ever. And in other news, Tony was 100% right on his contrarian bet, as the patch launch went smoother than butter pudding in a glass bowl wrapped in a silk cozy. Hardly anything was deleted from anybody’s inventory and it will only take until next month’s patch to fix it. And only a few mission types have been disabled. So, the year of quality control and content has finally begun during the Epic Month of May.
Dune: Awakening
Dune Awakening had its beta weekend come and go and several of our Guard Frequency community members went in full tilt. By all reports it is shaping up to be a decent launch with just a couple of kinks remaining. We’re definitely going to have a presence when the game goes live if you’re interested in joining up.
Helldivers 2
Helldivers 2 released their new warbond, Masters of Ceremony, and a slew of new Illuminate enemies like a strafing fighter, a mortar launcher and a giant zombie flesh voltron. You heard me. Also, there’s a new progression system / credit sink – customizable guns!
Hunternet Starfighter
Hunternet Starfighter has released even more, even longer, even better videos of its mining and flight model changes.
Community Questions
- Is the “blade” sale worthy of the controversy that it stirred up? Or is this just CIG being the CIG that they’ve been training us to accept?
- Are you interested in heading to the deep desert to find out if you can survive Arrakis?
