Links & The Like

Elite: Dangerous

Elite Dangerous updated the Trailblazers release to “3.3” and updated their financial release to “unaudited yearly results.” Both releases addressed problems with the flow of money and trade, but Tony was only interested in reading one of them. Guess which one it was.

Go on.

Guess.

Anyway, we’ll have to sit through more corporate speak and financial stuff. I’ll be scheduling another nap for the third Flight Deck segment.

Star Citizen

Star Citizen released Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 4.2 PTU 9864495 RC1 to all backers on the PTU server. The game continues to run as smooth as butter in a WD-40-greased silk dressing gown on a zamboni-ed hockey ring. It’s going so well that a noted Star Citizen Streamer told his viewers QUOTE Fuck This Shit END QUOTE. And the flight model is changing again, this time with changes to Quantum Travel that throws the demo from Citizen Con 2024 in the trash. And CIG took Guard Frequency’s advice from 2014 and has implemented a time currency with the Wikelo Shops. But unfortunately, they did it wrong. Basically, according to a research badger “Star Citizen is still over promising and underdelivering while exploring new monetization techniques completely different from mobile games. This has never been done before”

Dune: Awakening

Dune Awakening launched its Early Access period on June 5, and released to the general public on June 10. And it’s been a problem. Just a huge problem. It was good and enjoyable and addictive and sphincter-clenching and really fairly stable. Geoff will tell you all about it.

No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky released its Beacon update, with planetside improvements to settlement management. From building fishing ponds to managing fights with the neighbors, Hello Games is drilling down on the “frontier” part of the final frontier. Henry will tell you all about it.

Community Questions

  • Have you had any sphincter clenching moments in Dune that you’d like to share with the group? Do you find shades of brown as boring as Henry does?
  • What’s on your hot take on Wikelo and is his store smoother than butter?
