Elite: Dangerous
Elite Dangerous is giving us what we’ve all been waiting for: a reason to equip torpedoes on our ships. These will be special Thargoid Titan killing torpedoes that use green jolly ranchers for fuel. And for some reason, carrier jumps are taking 30 minutes or more to complete. I’m sure that’s absolutely good news. Or terrible news. One of those things, for sure.
Star Citizen
Star Citizen released Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 3.22.1 EPTU.9069975 to the PTU server, announcing the new Overdrive dynamic event. And good news everyone, the patch notes for the Evocati releases are no longer covered by the NDA, so we don’t have to feel guilty for reading them anymore. However, videos and pictures are still confidential, so we still have to feel guilty about watching the footage of players trying to board an Idris that is posted on YouTube. Also, the annual report that CIG was supposed to file with the British government is now six weeks late and racking up fines. But it will be OK once Chris explains to King Chuck that he doesn’t understand game development and that they’ve decided they’re not going to answer “when” questions anymore. Finally, let’s say goodbye and good luck to Todd Papy, the former SC Game Director who apparently left CIG a month ago. If only he could have held on until 4.0, then he could have said he launched a minimum viable product.
The Third Wheels
No Man’s Sky announced that the Omega Expedition will be free to play for everyone for a weekend, but by the time you hear the show, that offer will be gone. And Microsoft Flight Simulator becomes a legitimate space game with the introduction of the orthopedic-optors, oregano-choppers, oreo-copper-tops – whatever the grasshopper looking things from the Dune movie are called. And finally, Tony asked Elliot to come on the show to talk about a game that all the kids are saying is the bees knees and outta sight daddy-o.
