Elite: Dangerous
Elite Dangerous released the Kestrel Mark 2 on Tuesday this week and it’s a sexy little ship. Also, FDev patched and balanced a myriad of on-foot audio issues, focusing on quality of life and machine gun sexiness. I guess that means the Operations release is right around the corner. Soon, right?
Star Citizen
Star Citizen released Early Access Pre-Alpha Release Candidate Prototype Experimental Test Build 4.6.0 11303722 to the LIVE server. The first hotfix in nearly two weeks was packed full of good news for players, as CIG reported that QUOTE Client-side Hotfix with some undisclosed fixes has been sent to the LIVE environment. END QUOTE When you’ve stopped caring about the definition of “alpha,” “polishing,” and “roadmap,” I guess the definition of “patch notes” is not the hill to die on. But the changes, they are a-comin’, with the Evocati getting their hands on Tier Negative One of the crafting system, which we’re sure will work great with SC’s famously stable inventory system. And Tony was WRONG, because Chris Roberts told an eSports forum in Sydney, Australia that SC and SQ42 will feature full VR support. And you can “reach out and touch Gillian Anderson”.
The Rest of the Gang
Dune: Awakening released the latest update last month and Tony finally got around to trying out some of the new end game mechanics. Spoiler Alert: it meets Guard Frequency’s “meh” standards. And they’re still having problems keeping players’ bases from falling over due to other players’ weapons. At least this time Funcom is quick with the fixes, apologies, and sacks of in-game resources to smooth things over. Oh, and Henry is a bad man for talking up that Voyager game. A very bad man.
Community Questions
- Is VR in Squadron 42 a “must-have” feature? Will you be reaching out and touching Gillian Anderson APPROPRIATELY?
- Is endgame complexity a design goal or a design necessity? Do you want to challenge your dedicated players or make sure they don’t play anything else?
